Chaos is not "fun", heretic. Loads bolter with religious intent
I haven't played the game since before the expansion packs came out, so I'm not much use. I'll be following this thread though. It's an excellent game.
You should definitely pick up Biotech and some of the mech mods. If the guy hasn't been banned there used to be a mod to let you recolor your mechanoids, that way you can have a Heretek. You absolutely need the vanilla expanded ideology mod though, it gives you way more options.
For ideology I'd recommend raider, supremacist for slavery, and depending on which chaos god you prefer you could use the disease meme or the blood pit meme as well. You might also consider Bulwark to emphasize armor.
You should also consider using spike core for your primary theme rather than eldritch. Eldritch gives you a lot of 1920s gear since that's around when Cthulhu takes place. Spike core fits chaos space marines better imo.
For a Sorcerer the vanilla expanded series has a psy cast expanded in the event that you have Royalty.
[Edit: oh and vanilla expanded pirates. The main feature of that mod is the ability to entomb people in "war caskets", which is clearly dreadnaught esque.
Thinking on it for a minute, I'd actually recommend you make a chaos cult rather than explicitly a CSM playthrough.
This would let you have mediocre pawns be cultists or traitor guardsmen while the exceptional fighters or psykers can be genuine marines. Word Bearers or Alpha Legion would be ideal for this.

This sounds like heresy.
For sure use VFE Pirates for the War caskets, and get several of the Vanilla Weapons Expanded modules: Heavy Weapons, Lasers, and Grenades (only if you aren't using simple sidearms). Also consider Dual Wield, for that lovely Monosword and Charge Pistol combo.
There is a series of Wh40k mods on the workshop, including one which has the full set of space marine bodyparts, but they are poorly integrated and balanced in my opinion.
As for the Ideology itself, Get Biological corruptors from Alpha Memes, and Raider at a minimum. Use alpha biomes and embark on Ocular Forest.

It does not conflict, mostly. It takes a little more micro. When your pawns fall over they may not correctly dual wield when automatically reequipping their weapons.
I've only done Christian and Greco-Roman derivatives since Ideology released, and I have very little experience with Warhammer.
I did see a Biotech Space Marine mod, though, so if you have that DLC, I'd check it out.
It seems like a natural fit with Royalty as well, assuming the Chaos Marines have an equivalent of the God Emperor.

Take "Eldritch Cult" and "Exalted priesthood" from that mod. Depending on which Chapter, also maybe the "Blood Court".
That mod also has the "God Emperor" meme if you decide to put your heretical ways behind you.
I've honestly been playing a lot of Rimworld ever since AA did his stream on his unmodded playthrough.
