Meta has announced it will be blocking news links on Facebook and Instagram for Canadian users in response to the passage of the Liberal government’s online news bill C-18.

The bill forces social media companies to pay news publishers for links to their content being available on the platform.

If the bill is about this I think canada might be kinda right in this one.

Our news propaganda network happened partly because they suddenly lost income to free internet news.

The bill is bullshit. Meta (Google, Twitter) blocks the news for a few days, the publishers will make a special deal with Meta that allows them to link without paying, everyone else that isn't a giant tech-corporation is fucked. Happened the same way in Germany.
