I think the same types pushing "cis" already tried to stigmatize "normal" for years. I remember getting the impression from most mass media growing up that being normal was boring. It was uncool, not worth being proud of, square. There was always a subtle push to be different. Almost like a concerted effort to fling open the floodgates to multiculturalism and sexual degeneracy.

And to some extent, it did work.

But it didn't work well enough, since at the end of the day, most people simply are normal. They may bristle at having their natural state of being compared to negative things, but they are normal, and it's extremely difficult to get someone to feel ashamed about something genuine good. Something normal.

Slapping the cis label on the default state of being adds a layer of separation though. It's not just the default normal state anymore. It's just another identity in a sea of other nonsense identities. It's easier to stigmatize thanks to wordplay. And it seems to be working on a lot of idiot kids these days.

Reject cis, embrace normal.

Tell me about it. I once listened to a lesbian pitch her LGBTQ+ atheist group. During her spiel she “joked” that “I don’t know why you straights stay that way. It just seems so boring!” Of course everyone laughed at the dyke’s comment. But I’m sure if I’d made some derogatory remark like that I’d have been eviscerated. On top of that, there was just something very wrong about implying that queers choose to be that way just for the sake of novelty. But, as per usual for an atheist gathering, most people there weren’t thinkers. Sorry, I just really hate atheists. But yeah, her putting down “normalcy” seemed so odd (queer, even!).
