Media and colleges? Also known as primary targets in any civil war. I'm not talking about some kind of long march here. The cultural subversion phase is over and we didn't fight.
There was no "we." America's ruling class fully supported what you are calling a subversion. When you're a dissident and experience repression, it's easy to see that shit like Queer Theory did not face the same pushback precisely because it was not threatening to the ruling class.
The "subversion" had already happened. A lot of what the right calls a "long march" is miscategorized. It was actually a ruling class re-aligning middling, managerial structures like academia to more adequately serve its interests.
If you really want to get spicy, you can go all the way back to the American Revolution. Before that, it gets a bit detached and complicated for us Americans, simply because we are talking about several European countries.
Of course, since we are talking racial struggle, we can easily go back to BC. That runs the risk of getting a bit myopic about it though.
Furthest back I've seen proto communism is the Jacquierie.
That said, what we're dealing with here is not any one group of "elites.". If it were then leftism would have died out long ago. It's not even the ideology itself, it's the immorality that spawned it. That's why I wholeheartedly condemn the rank and file among leftists. Because they're every bit as evil as their masters, they're just not rich and connected.
This evil would be nothing without bodies to follow along.

Seems to me like you're talking about a different timeline than I am. Because I'm talking about as far back as the French Revolution.
It has been a very long march indeed, by a determined and patient enemy.
