Why is Cruz doing this shit?
He is up for re-election in 2024 and he faces a tough race against Colin Alred.
The DFW suburbs despise Cruz and he cannot afford to risk a 2018 when he almost lost to Beto Rourke. Cruz thinks shilling for gays will help him. What I am afraid of is that this might just harm his rural evangelical support while not helping him.
I honestly wouldn't mind if Cruz got primaried by a competent conservative Republican. He habitually does dumb shit thinking he can play 4d chess.
Texas Senate in 2024 would be a slam dunk if we had a good candidate like Beth Van Duyne running for Cruz's Senate seat.
She was mayor of Irving and is a very good House rep. It also helps that she is photogenic and well-spoken.
Instead conservatives in Texas have to struggle like 2018 to get Cruz over the finish lane.
We must flip the Senate in 2024 so that means we absolutely need Cruz to win.
Cruz needs to shut up and stop angering the rural base.
