Uganda's president approves anti-LGBTQ laws, including 20-year sentence for 'promoting' homosexuality
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has signed one of the world's harshest anti-LGBTQ laws, defying condemnations from Western governments, businesses and human rights activists.
Someone posted the contents of the actual law (supposedly at least) and it read like the exact laws they have in the west against straight people.
Laws against if you have AIDS, laws against if you have sex with someone under the age of 18 and you're "in a position of authority", stuff like that.
"On May 2, parliament passed a revised bill that made minor amendments while leaving most of the original legislation intact. The amended version stipulated that merely identifying as LGBTQ is not a crime and revised a measure that obliged people to report homosexual activity to only require reporting when a child is involved.
and with that, I can mostly get behind this bill. if they really are leaving adults to themselves while making sure children don't get swept up, I see no issue.
