This. They’re both terrible, but it’s like… Probably the best comparison is communist Vietnam and Pol Pot’s Cambodia. Or, for those who know a little more, Tito’s Yugoslavia vs Hoxha’s Albania…
Iran is more dangerous from a stable, well-armed regime with allies perspective, but the Taliban are an objectively worse regime…
But this is also like… A really shitty David vs Goliath. Or at least it would be were it not for the insanity that was Biden “pulling out” in such a chaotic way that it left the Taliban as the hostile regime with some of the largest U.S.-made weapons stocks in the world (malice? Or stupidity? Or both? You decide)…
So… Fuck both. The Taliban causing issues for the Iranian regime, and keeping them busy? Fine.
The Taliban actually somehow winning a war there, and taking over a province of Iran or something, or ethnic cleansing a few hundred thousand Shi’ites or Hazara..? Yeah, not so fine…
But they’re so fucking stupid and inept, as we’ve seen repeatedly since they took over again, so I very much doubt this going very far…
But then who fucking knows.
