Unsurprising. They've been putting their finger on the scale since Captain Marvel, if not earlier. The reliance of sites like these on access and advertisement is sufficient for corruption of their algorithms to be inevitable. The unwashed masses voting 'zero' do not pay IMDB's bills and their input will be discarded to appease the Media conglomerates who's content the site relies on.
EDIT: I should add that I was thinking of Rotten Tomatoes, not IMDB. I had reason to be suspicious of IMDB's ratings, but never evidence.
IMDB has been pulling this shit for a loooong time. Now they get financed to do it but in the past they just pulled scores they didn't agree with often.
This is how they do the slow creep on the sanitisation of normie net and it's all for the sake of appeasing advertisers. Any moderation move or policy change almost certainly revolves around ad money regardless of what they claim.
The woke bullshit as well I think is very much a calculated move by the corporations as we've seen because it gives them an excuse to clamp down on the userbase while getting positive PR in the press. Being that out of touch though they don't realise how even the normies are going to be turned against them.
What will finally end this nonsense is when they eventually give up on having a userbase altogether. As long as they get their traffic to justify their ad money, they don't care. If you think this is bad I keep predicting that we will eventually see normie net so sanitised that anybody with a slight opinion is going to get booted out if they aren't doing constant product placement and don't have the phone numbers of executives.
This isn't because of any actual policy violation, they want to make the sites as ad friendly as possible and as others have pointed out this is already happening to a degree as we will start seeing extremely stage managed 'youtubers and streamers' popping out of nowhere and going viral not because they're actually any good but because they have corporate approval and will be quietly boosted on the trending pages. It's why they're even targeting usually very uncontroversial content now like that history youtuber that dared to debunk the SJW narrative on cleopatra.
People need to wake the fuck up that any bans now are nothing to do with following the rules, they want traffic and ad money and don't want users. Too many midwits don't understand this about how the corporate back end of big tech works. I think when it finally happens will be towards 2024 and they will be pulling out all of the stops to help Biden win if he really does run and doesn't get ousted somehow by his own party.
In gaming terms it's like with fucking IGN and Gamespot where they still will put at least a 6 on anything that pays them ad money and praise it, useless people but that's how tech sites roll these days.
I agree; the target audience of large swaths of the internet isn't normies-- it's advertisers.
To the extent that bot traffic can fake views for those ads, real people aren't needed or wanted in the process. These review sites serve the clients who pay for ads and coverage-- and they're listening to analytics that are based on impressions, not actual conversions to sales.
Enter Parrot Analytics, which uses social media impressions (even and especially negative ones!) as the measure of popularity which Big Media uses to justify its programing. This is the tail of the bot-driven internet being eaten by its own algorithms in an Ouroboros of shit-eating. The system is so fake and gay that gaming it will push consumerism past the breaking point. The only question is 'when?'
perhaps upper echilon (sorry cant spell that word right to save my life) will do an experiment to poke it,,, well either him or spiffing brit, hes messed with steam botnets before by artificaly manipulating the price of a cucumber emoji tricking them into auto buying them and raking in some profit.
The site died when they killed the message boards. The only reason I ever went back there was for the "actor cross-reference" search that they make hard to find. I don't even know if the feature is still available.
A quick calculation shows that if they just ignored every single 1/10 review that would put it around 7.36/10. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what their proprietary “we can’t tell you” score amounts to.
Would also explain why they don’t want to say, because simply voting 2/10 or 3/10 might avoid their censorship.

Not any more.

Only potentially honest site is metacritic |(user score) and they just pulled some bullshit excuse to lie recently. We all know the truth though.

Nothing unusual about 2700 of 15000 reviews being perfect 10s, though. Apparently 18% of reviewers think it's the perfect film, and that's okay.
They also just recently removed ratings based on demographics (age and sex), which was useful for detecting woke movies (higher female rating).
Jesus, is anything NOT rigged? Anything at all. Even just one thing
Say imdb (amazon).
I'd love to see the "alternate weighting calculation". Or is it safe to assume it's just a number they pulled out of their ass?

They refuse to disclose how the calculation is done. So yes, they pulled it out of their ass

Same thing with Anne Bolyen (white) . Same thing with Rings of Power. same thing with fucking hell.
If you remove all the 1's AND all the 10's, since the movie is obviously not perfect nor perfectly bad, you get 6.065, for what it's worth.
