The kid's step dad sounds like that guy from the gigachad meme.
A decade from now, there are going to be some hilarious conversations between step dad and stepson.
"Dad, I wish you were my father." "Why?" "So I could have a chin..."

Of note: “boy” and not “man.”
Yeah, they often seem to fixate on "boy/girl" rather than "man/woman." I've seen it claimed that it's because they were "robbed" of the "correct" type of childhood. I, of course, don't buy that; suspect there's something a bit more sinister there.
