Probably because its one of Nintendo's biggest properties which likely had a much more strict oversight on its localization.
Zelda ain't Fire Emblem, which was a nothing burger of a franchise until recently. This is probably the negotiated down compromise of what they could slip in.
Fire Emblem was going to go the way of F-Zero until Awakening dumbed down the natural tension and saved players' fee-fees by introducing the poison known as Casual Mode.
Consequences? What are consequences? Everyone knows no one DIES in WAR!
And now we have Phoenix Mode, where they don't even have to wait until the END of the battle to revive!
Once you understand that "the slippery slope" in this case is not a logical fallacy, but rather the straightforward observation of the step-by-step implementation of an oft-repeated process that has been attempted and resisted, implemented and eventually stamped-out, time and time again over the course of human history, you will understand why it should be stopped at the beginning of the process.
Don't even get me started on how Awakening is the biggest Monkey's Paw in gaming history. Saving a series, but at what cost? I can go for hours on everything it caused to go wrong that originated in itself.
You speak of Casual mode ruining it, but I think Lunatic (and Maddening and whatever other name that give it) did. Because instead of just Regular Mode and Baby mode, we have the super mega hard mode that totally isn't designed to sell Grinding Map DLCs that is the real difficulty (so we can not put much effort into Hard/Normal with Classic not being a joke) and force you to only be able to min/max with the best small handful of characters to even be able to play.
