Everyone knows that term, here. But then again, the fucking Greens are much more politically powerful, here, so that’s probably part of it…

I've never heard that word used to describe US environmentalists.
The US doesn't have a meaningful "green" party so nobody who isn't already in the game knows the "watermelon" term.
Also the propaganda is such that all of the commies fall back to "I'm not a commie, I'm a socialist" as if there is a difference.

I've found the only term that makes things absolutely clear is "gay commie".
