This is the truth that is so threatening to homos that it gets buried and denounced out of hand.
One isn't "born" homo but is conditioned and/or traumatized into being aroused by the same sex.
Leaving homos alone to play among themselves was the civilized, tolerant thing to do, but we've seen what happened with that, and it happens time and again. With toleration comes the further demand to abandon morality and ethics entirely for some relativistic nightmare where nothing is true and everything is permitted.
Homos did their gross stuff behind closed doors and in ghetto areas, the homos took pains to hide it from normal people and they were generally left alone.
The idea of being an open homo was absurd outside of really small or insular communities. And no way would a known homo be allowed anywhere near children.
If the homo showed he couldn't control himself by pretending to be normal in public he could be fired, kicked out of anywhere he rented, or in a few cases targeted for extra-judicial discouragement. The sodomy laws were meant to separate extreme cases from normal society, like decency and other pro-social laws.
Publicly there wasn't any talk about them other than to maybe a sermon against them in a church.
