Here's an amusingly insane (and inane) document produced by AusGov about working "safely" from home, that I am about to have to sign off as having read... Australia really is becoming a Kafkaesque dystopia at this point. It's just so... Well, I honestly almost cannot believe this exists, but anyway. (covid19.swa.gov.au)

This is the only real purpose behind documents of this type. I waded through shitloads of mandatory 'training' like this when I was working replenishment in a supermarket.

"You signed off the 'lift with your knees' training session, so your spinal compression from years of lifting half your bodyweight around the store daily is just your own problem."

I shit you not I'm being paid to deliver training of this sort.

I've had no training in it whatsoever and no-one has noticed.

Tbf, if it’s anything like this document, I, with basically no training either, could probably come up with something similar…

As you say, no one would notice. Because it’s all bullshit.

Unlike, say, fire safety training which can be somewhat useful, if done properly, this… Is literally just common sense. Like, the “stretches” are straight out of an old-school airline magazine, lmfao…

I did a WHS unit at TAFE once, as part of a horticulture course…

Hours and hours, modules and modules of this same bullshit…

I honestly cannot believe that people take this seriously, at this point.

Funny thing is, except for the screen height my setup meets all the checklist requirements. All without spending millions of dollaridoos.

These three pages bought a horde of consultants nice houses.

insane (and inane)

Alright, I'm gonna be that guy in this thread.

None of this is insane, or inane. If you don't set up your workspace properly, you will physically suffer for it in the long run.

Granted, most people will figure this shit out themselves the first time they find they're unable to turn or tilt their head more than 20 degrees without stiffness and pain, but there's plenty of idiots who wont, and also plenty of far more insidious, creeping injuries.

One you won't notice until it's too late is damage to your eyesight. That's a one way street.

I don't need a mandatory government flyer to tell me that. That is the point.

The "advice" is not the issue. The fact that I am being forced to sign off on having read this, is.

They do that so that you can't claim ignorance later on when you're a hunch backed cripple.

More ridiculous university requirements?

Nah, this one is for a mandatory government employment services short course (long story)...

I took the semester off.

I believe the idea is that any government-funded org has to make their employees who are working from home sign off on this shit, now... Which is... Amusing.

It's very inane...

It always amazes me that someone is employed to come up with shit like this document, which companies then make mandatory reading...

Strange times indeed...
