You had people forced into asylums for nefarious reasons, when we had them though. Kind of like you have innocent people implicated and put in jail sometimes these days.
This is a good thing in the long run. They're fucking crazy and you can't hide fucking crazy. The more exposure they have, the more more they'll repulse normal people, and that will make them even crazier. Anything other than 100% affirmation and praise makes these people fly into a rage. It'll be a self-perpetuating cycle of hysteria and outrage that will eventually lead to more Audrey Hale type shootings. Again, a good thing in the long run. The government will praise the shooters and even the "I just wanna grill" types will realize what's going on.

I think asylums worked better espionage when they were open to tours by the public.
