I am a little skeptical in the sense that I think a lot of them are adopting the label "nonbinary" and in reality they're just straight IRL.
I always use the analogy of the one girl we all knew in college who was "bisexual" for oppresion points yet only dated guys. Same thing here.
Yup, that's the real reason we're seeing this explosion of people claiming to be alphabet freaks. When Zoe Quinn started using third person pronouns I pointed out that 20 years ago she would have been claiming to be bisexual without ever dating other women. It's all about attention and social status.
