For the doubters, last year there was similar reporting for the almost as ancient T-62 tank, which Russia has in the meantime been confirmed to have lost 70 of.

T-62 isn't a WWII design (1944/45 prototype).

It joins with the many PTRDs and Mosins of the glorious LD/PR, and the Ukrainian Maxims actually.

Some time ago Laos has sent a train of T-34s to Russia, may come in handy.

IIRC those are intended for May 9 parade.

Doesn't really detract from the fact that Russia has in fact started using T-62M en masse and put their propagandists to explaining why those tanks are good(Vladislav Shurigin for example calls it "Perfect modernizable platform for a wide spectre of tasks"). It goes to hilarious lengths tho, even to claims that those tanks can hold an NLAW hit.

Russian sources I read speculate those are going to be used as either better armored troop wehicle(since classic ones are paper thin and an old tank still has some armor) or they would be put in a hole in the ground and used as a makeshift artillery.
