Kind of insane how powerful it is. I'd guess that close to 90% of the US population mistakenly believes that spouses can't be made to testify against each other in court, and that police won't take a missing persons report until the person has been missing for 48 hours. All because they've heard it so many times in various movies and TV shows and never even question it.
Or "18 is the universal age of consent and any violations of that is open pedophilia."
Or that marrying a U.S citizen makes you one
