A couple weeks ago I criticized Woody Harrelson for doing his monologue 2 years after it was safe to do so. But talking to someone the other day who didn't get the vax while being under tremendous pressure to get it, it seemed like his monologue did in fact let this person know that there were other sane men in the world. This forced me to reconsider my position.
Something I remember from evangelism training from many years ago is that you have to meet people where they are before you can guide them to where you want them to be. Many people don't even know that it's appropriate to criticize these vaccinations. So there is still value in someone doing so even now, especially if they are in some traditional position of authority.
Should you trust these people implicitly? No. Can they still be useful? Yes.
I agree with what you're saying, and that's how I talk to people who aren't already converted, but I don't think it's relevant to what I'm saying. Doctors (and scientists in general) were the ones who were supposed to uphold rational discussion and push back against this insane power grab and flagrant abuse of science. Instead the vast majority kept quiet to keep their status and jobs, or even joined the lie to profit from it. It's reprehensible.
Now that public opinion about COVID has started shifting (because governments are allowing it to shift), some of these same people are jumping at the chance to make political gains or get speaking jobs. It's not bravery, it's cowardly opportunism.
