you think that's bad, look at one punch man and my hero academia, they're even kicking our asses at the super hero genres, with heroes modeled after american comic book heroe archetypes, ferchrissakes...
Even as a straight guy, I get a little tired of the gratuitous sexiness.
As someone who also gets tired of gratuitous sexiness (to the point I vastly prefer women in armor over the "chainmail bikini" look): If you consider anything in MHA to be "gratuitous", you have far too narrow of standards.
It will never stop being strange to me that the Leftist are simultaneously obnoxiously sex-positive and sex-negative at the same time.
Even that is not entirely true. They are only sex positive if it is women doing it for other women! They always get upset if a man likes it. Ironically, also getting mad at Bisexual women who like it, since they usually like the same things as men.
Leftists will simultaneously call Americans prude and want every character in cinema to be a proud slut with a kink, but then get mad at a fashion catalogue with scantily clad HOT women because its objectification. But it's not when the models are grotesque.
Correct. There is absolutely a lot of fanservice present, and the author has openly admitted as such. But while it is slightly above average amounts of fanservice by anime standards, like you said they are usually pivotal to the plot. Which is far more than can be said of many anime where the women are just there as eye candy.

As you say, that's ridiculous. I just looked through the character roster, only a few I'd even consider that sexualized at all, from the commonly reoccurring characters. And none I'd describe as gratuitous. Midnight, who is meant to be over the top. And Momo. That's basically it, from the fairly regular characters. From the reoccurring but not primary characters, you have Mt. Lady, who is supposed to be a bit of a joke, and Bubble Girl.
Being very mercenary about the issue helps. Every once in a while, they will make something woke, it sells poorly, and they say "Well, so much for that" and go back to what works. And if you try to force it again, they will ask "But will it make money?"
also, If I want the opinions of an online feminist on anything, ill think about it really hard while bashing my head in with a sledgehammer and record whatever comes out of my mouth afterwards.

They're sex-negative if it's something that could conceivably lead to reproductive heterosexual sex.
Also, don't forget that to leftists, "real women" invariably means seriously obese.
Unhealthily fat 250+ lber = real woman
Dude with implants and a penis = real woman
Skinny or athletic girl = UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
Not always. They tend to tell the younger women to cover it up to empower fags and the roasties.
They're sex-positive if :
It's a woman gaining enjoyment, regardless of anything else.
It's a woman gaining wealth from men.
Anything else is trying to circumvent the price women have put on intimacy and must be crushed.

thankfully, japan has done a pretty good job of dodging the woke mind virus so far, lol.

Good Boy Points aren't a currency there.
ESG is slowly injecting them though. Take a look at the censored RE remakes.
That's more then trying to pander to the American market. They think it's our culture now...
For now.
Keep an eye on MUFG.

I assure you, it will be more coherent and sane.
Good.
MHA is better than anything to come out of American super hero media for 20+ years.
depends where you're looking. there's some indie stuff that's looks promising... Richard C. Meyer made some comics I'd like to read for example.
On that topic, Tiger and Bunny is also great. It also has this whole theme of superheroes being commercialised.
You just set the stage for me to read that entire thing as Peter Griffon. Thanks for that.
hehehehehehehehe....
anime has lots of super heroes. they just don't all wear capes and tights.
