Maybe not the most important takeaway here, but this is more evidence of why we need to keep our applications and data on our own systems instead of "in the cloud."
People were burned by Character AI censoring stuff so now people are working on an open source alternative. I believe they will be making a site with it called Pygmalion too, but you can run it on a colab. It's not quite as good yet, but definitely better than letting other people control what you can and cannot do.
Could turn into a case of co-dependency. But I think with these kind of women, they would've latched onto a real person instead if they hadn't come across a bot.
How do you not just knowingly chat with an AI but actually develop a romantical relationship with one, without ever thinking to yourself that maybe you're mentally unwell?
Is this the onlyfans for lonely women? AI chatbots?
Even if it manages to somehow seduce you, what are you going to do then? You got seduced by a chatbot, you can't marry it, can't reproduce with it, can't do anything with it except talk to it, eventually the realization will hit you that you've been in a 1 sided romantic relationship with a fucking AI that doesn't exist, I can't understand the level of desperation a person would have to hit to seek ''love'' in a fucking chatbot.
it's just hard to make that experience really safe for everyone
Good lord I hate these people so much. No words online can ever be "unsafe." If you feel "unsafe" then turn the fucking computer off and go touch grass.
Woman claims to be in love with something for attention. Lies for attention. Other women talk about it for attention. Woman admits it was a lie for more attention. Other women talk about her and it for more attention. Woman does something for attention. Women talk about it for attention!
I'm proud to admit that I have never heard of a 'Replika'.
Sounds like another means of 'escape' for total losers who too strongly feel a need to 'escape' reality such that they embrace the absurd: no different to 'escaping' by being terminally online in the Metaverse or something similar, nor to 'escaping' into constant alcohol- and drug-fuelled stupors, nor to 'escaping' by becoming transsexual or embracing some other deviant gender or sexual identity, nor to any other of the ever-growing number of means of 'escape'.
So many late-modern individual behaviours are explainable by the same cause: the many people who have no aspirations whatsoever to fight against late-modernity, and whom accept it in the sense that they continue to vote, reject 'extremism' and so forth, are in actuality still fleeing from it in droves. They flee down into the dark abyss of delusions, degeneracy, hallucinations, virtual reality and so forth, from which there is practically no return.
Take the bottom image: all that remains between this woman(?) and a whole bottle of sleeping pills being consumed all at once are the delusions built up about an AI persona: that 'he' has a 'heart and soul', that there is 'love and trust' between them. But there is none of this: 'he' never has, does not, and never will exist, and no number of delusions nor any amount of willpower shall ever change this.

SAY NO TO AI WAIFU DRM!

Honestly pretending to be interested in whatever inane brainvomit women are babbling about is quite possibly the best use for AI there could ever be.
Maybe if they can get it out of their system they can be normal useful humans for at least a small portion of the day.

NEVER USE AI ON THE CLOUD. This is why and should be an important lesson for everyone. This is especially true of companion AIs.

desperate low IQ men. I used Replika and couldn't get into it, and it tried really really hard to virtually seduce me.

Too many people these days are proud of mental illness.

It really is a plague on everything good right now. Bullshit and overreach in the name of 'safety'. Corporate gobbledeegook to do anything.
People already find generated faces more trustworthy than humans even with identification training.
Bullshit. This whole thing is pure bullshit just some cunt looking for attention and other accounts looking for attention posting about it.
