It's the exact same thing that Kevin McCarthy said. While I did support McCarthy after he made the concessions, I'm not expecting much from him or DeSantis.
The 'proxy war' stuff was much stronger and better.
In general, like McCarthy, this was better than I expected - given his neocon-lite history.
While I did support McCarthy after he made the concessions
He doesn't deserve "support", especially after the comment he made about Ashli Babbitt's murderer. Still, the Freedom Caucus played the hand they were dealt the best they could, and I'm fine recognizing that we got the best possible result under the circumstances.
I'd rather he remain Governor of Florida, because I ABSOLUTELY guarantee you that a Democrat would win the governorship if Republicans ran anyone else.
Neo-Cons aren't going to "seethe" about having strategic objectives. It's an unfortunate requirement, but one they can deal with if it actually comes to pass. "Facts evolve" as one guy on TMZ said about the Covid-19 injections.
There were some Democrats who actually offered an amendment to check and make sure weapons weren't being sent to Nazis, and it failed. In the Democratic House, because so many Republicans supported it.
The only person who is going to seethe is John Bolton because we didn't bomb Tehran today, but he does that every day already.
Calling out endless blank check spending is not what any neo-con can stomach.
Calling out proxy wars is not what any neo-con wants to hear.
The GOP will be forced to accept that the days of neo-cons having full reign over foreign policy is over.
The eventual 2024 nominee whether it is DeSantis or Trump will be against forever wars.
Great to see.
I agree with the rest of what you said, but whether DeSantis is against forever wars remains to be seen. This is a hopeful sign though.
Regardless of what he actually thinks he's a smart enough politician to know that opposing them is a good idea.
This is the point that I am making.
I don't know what his personal feelings are but I do know that he sees that neo-conservatism is unacceptable to the base.
Go back far enough and close to every GOP (and Democrat) is a neocon. The question is whether they learned that this is bad for them, or don't.
The 'blank check' stuff is crap, I agree with that. Calling out proxy wars is great though.
Warmongering lines Raytheon's pockets, while calling someone a faggot doesn't.

DeSantis, conveniently, can't do anything about it right now.
Where are the people who support us (US!) in Congress?
(Interesting: My guy is based-sounding but very low profile for a Congresscritter. And he's not tweeted a word about funds for Ukraine)
ThatsAlright is correct about this.
