Why not? To change the race of a character in a game requires new art assets, both animation assets and concept/storyboard assets, maybe even new voice acting. It probably cost a couple thousand dollars on their end at the minimum. And the decision to make that choice took place in a meeting, which cost labor time (money) to occur.
It is clearly worth a new car to them, why is it not worth a new car to us as consumers? Is there some disparity in value that I do not know about? They spent thousands of dollars on us, are we not supposed to "appreciate" that they've done so?
