I've heard how they are trying to pin this on the armourer, unfortunately for Alec and the people in charge, the FEDs got the text messages sent between them all and she was effectively removed from being an armourer to be more in charge of props BECAUSE she kept highlighting safety concerns and the fact Alec wouldn't give her back the guns immediately after shooting
On the day of the incident, she was there with them all for her trying to put some safety on set but told to go away to deal with a prop issue, after she was gone, Alec shot 2 people and she raced back. So she's pretty much innocent, Alec, the production managers are ALL in the shit for this.
Usually their fake guns that can't even fire anything, as in the end of the gun itself is rubber. There were reports that they were, off set, shooting live rounds for fun with the same guns they were filming with.
Something also in the messages the FEDs seized along with the armourer calling it out...
Did she load the gun? Did Alec? That’s literally all that matters.
Nope, Alec pulled the trigger, Alec didn't check the gun, and he intentionally disregarded a bunch of safety measures and admitted to such. Alec is and was always at fault, no matter the other circumstances.
she was effectively removed from being an armourer to be more in charge of props BECAUSE she kept highlighting safety concerns
OOF. When the seemingly incompetent armourer still raises safety concerns, only to be ignored and then blamed. That's super damning, since she was far from perfect or competent herself. What an absolute shitshow that set must have been, wow!
Firearms are provided for their use under the guidance of multiple expert professionals
The assistant director isn't one of those professionals. Having an armourer on set doesn't create an aura of safety, you have to actually use the armourer to make sure nobody does anything stupid.
What is the expectation here? That actors should be personally clearing their prop firearms on set? I can understand blaming producers for a generally lax and unsafe environment, but in the end? Someone loaded that live round in that gun. That’s who should get the manslaughter charge.
I despise Alec Baldwin, but this charge seems retarded unless he loaded the gun.
The expectation is that when you are handed something purporting to be a firearm, you clear it. Regardless of whether you're paying someone to manage it. A gun is treated as loaded by anyone who hasn't visually inspected the chamber.
If that costs film productions a few minutes over the course of a day, I can't imagine how it would be possible for me to give less of a fuck.
This argument is a distraction. Unless the prosecutor is doing some kind of fakeop to appease the public, there's more the story, and possibly evidence we haven't been talking about. For example Tim Pool just had a headline that Baldwin had live ammo in his belt for some reason. Also he was the producer so therefore indirectly in charge of everything including gun safety himself. Also they had kicked the armorer off the set earlier. Things that start to point to his responsibility.

What does "clear it" mean and why would an actor know that? That's exactly why someone is hired to handle gun safety. Actors shouldn't have to know anything about gun safety. It might as well be a toy to them. Unless they know otherwise, or the armorer gives them the proper handling instructions first.
Putting aside that Baldwin should have learned this all years ago, the person they should hire is a gun safety instructor, who stays on set to remind people when they fuck up.

Yes. Or at the very least giving a basic inspection. Absolutely.
I can understand blaming producers for a generally lax and unsafe environment, but in the end?
Alec was also a producer.

They should also face charges, yes.

He aimed and pulled the trigger, as well as ignored every safety rule. He's liable, no questions. I don't care who loaded the gun. If someone hands me a gun, I don't check it, I aim it at someone, pull the trigger, and kill them...I'm going to jail.

I heard it was the production staff that had left the gun there to be used, she was affectively left out of the cold from managing the weapons.
And also basic gun rules is you ALWAYS check the gun, if it's in your hands, it's YOUR responsibility!
He disregarded the first two rules of gun safety pretty blatantly.
1.) Treat every gun as if it is loaded.
2.) Never point a gun at something you are not prepared to destroy.
Actors point guns at each other all the time.

Ahm a thinking I will trust the court's verdict over the union!

Yes. It's expected of you when you're at a range or a gun store. Actors aren't special.
