Our media had a very different outlook on Ukraine right up until it was necessary to parrot the state line, no need to go back to 2014 I think there were articles from the month prior to the start of the war that were calling out Ukraine's corruption.

You'd be surprised at how many of these Communist types have all of a sudden decided the West are the good guys, especially over just the last 2 years. Where covid-19 had the opposite impact on a lot of people who were once pro-West and anti-everywhere else, to now be anti-West and pro-everywhere standing up to Western hegemony, I've seen it do the complete opposite to staunch communists. So many staunch communists support the West at least more so than countries like Russia.
Almost as if something deep in the state reached a critical mass recently and the West, specifically America, Canada, UK, and Australia, are now reading as communist to those people.
