Twitter’s comms team was closely in touch with reporters, working to minimize Twitter’s role. When the WashPost reported on the scandal, Twitter officials congratulated each other because the story didn’t mention any Twitter employees & focused largely on the Pentagon.
This is something I feel like has been going on for a long time. The Leftist reporters won't even think of touching the FBI, but they're happy to throw the DOD under the bus.
I think this is evidence of a larger conflict between the Civilian Intelligence agencies, and the Military Intelligence agencies.
It's been going on since the 50s and was one of the reasons they assassinated JFK and RFK. They were both very adamant about questioning unchecked power of the CIA and the US involvement with Israel. JFK officially recognized (more or less created) the green berets to act as a check against the developing paramilitary capabilities of the civilian intelligence agencies.
I don't agree with that argument. JFK & RFK challenging US involvement with Israel? Eh... Israel was always doing whatever it wanted so the US IC has always had a strained relationship with them. Israel would kill sources. Israel lied to the US about the 6 Day War, to a point that it's secrecy caused the USS Liberty attack. Israel lied (and still likely lies) about it's nuclear weapons capability. Every politician likes funding that comes from Israel, but the IC has long known that Israel can't be implicitly trusted. They're not interested in being an American lapdog, they are in it for themselves, and it's caused serious headaches for 70 years.
Meanwhile, JFK had no issues about using the CIA to kill the president of South Vietnam, and more often than not the IC and DOD were entirely on the same page, like in basically anything involving Cuba.
He tried to prevent Israel obtaining nuclear arms. No nukes, no Sampson option; no Sampson option, it doesn't matter if the US deep state is willing to sell every American soul for you, you're getting removed from the holy land.
The intelligence community is a lapdog to Israel. How many directors/committee members are Israeli citizens. It doesn't matter if the ground squirrels implicitly trust Mossad, the people pulling the strings are zionists, and the people on the ground are wearing blinders. It's always been this way.
The Kennedys' disillusionment/lack of trust in the CIA is well documented. One of the last things RFK did was point the finger at the CIA for JFK's assassination. They both saw the need for the IC especially against the commies, but also knew that it was too easily compromised because literally no one knew what they [IC]
were doing. They saw the likelihood of abuse and subversion.
