The similarities between him and Trump are astounding.
Came in pretending to be a savior, made empty promises, didn't deliver, did nothing but invigorate the left, and by the time it was over, even the people who originally supported him wanted him gone.
The best part is, the same people who support him and Trump will learn nothing from this. TPTB will just create another celebrity hero and they'll fall for it all over again.
Why the hell would Musk make this stupid poll?
This was a terrible unforced error.
Did he just naively think he was actually more popular than he really is?
If I had to guess, he was considering appointing someone else as CEO anyways.
It is going to be fucking Lex Fridman isn't it?
Who is that?
He already intended to step down with a replacement in mind. The poll has created engagement and given the people that hate him a false sense of power, which will encourage them to stick around.
These polls are perfect demonstrations of the effectiveness of democratic illusions, and democracy is always an illusion, to placate the plebs.
I want to believe that he is smart enough to know that and either puts these polls up as an example, or simply enjoys the Machiavellian dictator role and using Democracy as a tool.
But most likely he's just another autistic liberal who can't make that leap past his secular religion.
Musk is still quite progressive, but high-ranking progressives know they are manipulating the masses.
I think he's just looking for attention and validation from the right (seeing as he's a spergy white male and therefore unlikely to get it from the left without self-flagellating), but unfortunately, reactionaries are highly outnumbered by basic bitch conservatives and libertarians. The whole polling thing absolutely reeks of lolbert autism, and he's probably more concerned with winning points from that crowd than locking down one of the most valuable propaganda platforms ever invented.
I don't get it, where's the fire? Can people not waste their life on Twitter anymore?
Also who is "the people who originally supported Trump wanted him gone"?
How do you make it here and still spout this line?
Please answer the question
I disagree that no one learns anything. While more people fall for these "worked shoots" than don't, not everyone does. I fell for Trump but learned from it. I didn't fall for Elon, and I'm far from the only one who followed this path.
Are you fucking retarded, or are you just another subversive doing everything in your power to lose ground?
Disregarding that most of what you're claiming about Trump is false, just focusing on Elon, again almost everything you say is false.
You can't purge leftists once and be done with it. You'll just make it worse. They're still riding off of McCarthy busting the balls of a handful of commies 80 goddamn years ago. If they manage to weasel their way back in, they're gonna lock down even harder and nothing like this will happen again until collapse.
As opposed to no purging them?
This is an L for the Left. So was the fact that several spies got exposed by the HUAC, and the fact that Soviet Infiltration into the US Army was exposed in the Army-McCarthy hearings.
Yes, the Left crafts narratives. Good for them. That doesn't mean that these are tangible victories against a platform that is built and paid to solely direct public conversation.
It's just basic strategic thinking. Victories come with costs, and if the victory doesn't lead to anything, then it might as well be a loss. Don't win a battle at the cost of the war.
Elon will probably never be able to make a move like this again, and leftists still hold the majority of cultural territory - the factories of the culture war. Lord knows if we'll ever have anyone crazy and rich enough to pull a stunt like this again at all. That's gonna be true no matter what happens. If leftists retake or destroy Twitter before we get our use out of it, then we're coming away worse off for our "victory."
