The Green Party folks are actually less crazy, because there is some consistency to their views. It's "war bad", not "war bad except when Democrats start them".
Oh I've heard it before. I find it amusing that they think there's any meaningful difference between the various flavors of shit that is their ideology.
Sinema is a strange politician in all sense of the word. Sinema is full leftist on abortion, illegal aliens, gun control and LGBT ideology but somehow she vigorously protects the filibuster.
but somehow she vigorously protects the filibuster.
If you ask me, it because she knows that for all their attempts at suppressing the Populist movement and the Republican Party that is being taken over by it, they will never be able to stop it forever. And if the Populist had a president and a Congressional majority that doesnt have to worry about filibusters? Then all the Dems have done is awoken a sleeping beast, filled it with a terrible resolve, and now gave it a weapon to hunt them with. So like many a politician before her, she protects it to save her own skin.
It is just that the AOC's taking over the party are so retarded and short sighted they dont realize it can happen to them.
All they need is one term where they have all their ducks lined up and the filibuster is gone to destroy everything, and they own a good portion of elections via fraud now. Meanwhile they know conservatives won't ever move fast enough to really take advantage of a no filibuster congress.
Democrats vehemently hated her for defending the filibuster and they openly said they planned on primarying her in 2024 with Ruben Gallego.
Now she avoids the Dem primary as an independent but in a race against a Republican and a Democrat, she will lose as the left portion of the Dems absolutely hates her.
The question is who benefits more from her splitting the vote?
Will cucked moderate Republicans or moderate Democrats vote more for her?
Hard to say whether this screws the 2024 Dem nominee more or 2024 Rep nominee more.
This is just a bizarre turn of events if she wants to maximize her chances of winning re-election.

There is nothing strange about that. Assuming for a moment that she actually cares about what she says she cares about, preserving the filibuster is bad for Democrats in the coming 2 years, but good from 3-infinity years - because of their structural disadvantage in the Senate.
People literally can't see more than 1 move ahead.
Although it would be rather funny if Manchin switched to GOP and gave republicans the senate (provided Mitch doesn't get to be senate majority leader, lol).
Not really surprised. I assumed she would be a crazy leftie but she hasn’t been. I remember her and Manchin were the only Dems that applauded during Trump’s state of the union.
The big difference here is that Angus King of Maine and Bernie Sanders of Vermont both ran as independents planning on caucusing with Democrats from the beginning.
Those two are obviously party line votes for the Democrats in everything but Sinema is switching parties four years in.
The question is why?
What does she gain from doing this at this moment?
That is what I am still trying to wrap my head around.
Her being known for being one of two dems who constantly have the party kowtow to their constituents wasn't going to do her any favors with the democrat establishment either for reelection. She was likely going to be primaried in a fortified primary.
This increases her power. They were just talking about how the Democrats having an actual Senate majority was going to diminish their need to pander to her. Technically, this takes that away
Not like she won't caucus with Democrats most of the time anyway.
All the time. She might vote with Democrats most of the time, but she will caucus with Democrats all the time. Caucusing is about which party is in charge.
Thom Tillis and Sinema are trying to ram through a bipartisan amnesty bill for 2 million DACA illegals in the lameduck session.
Did she choose to switch now to entice Republicans to pass their travesty of a bill?
The fate of Western civilization currently rests on the whims of a 46 year old bisexual woman who was once a Green Party member.

Bernie sanders has also claimed to be independent but votes 100% with the democrats. This is trying to save optics for her next re election campaign
Bernie is little different, though. Bernie is not a Democrat because he is too far left. Not because his constituents are suspicious of Democrats
If you caucus with the socialists, and vote with the socialists, it doesn't matter what you call yourself.

Oh I've heard it before. I find it amusing that they think there's any meaningful difference between the various flavors of shit that is their ideology.
Because she is an attention whore who shapeshifts to maximize her popularity.
Manchin has been a Blue Dog Democrat for decades.
I don't think Manchin ever switches.

How does this help her survive in 2024?

If the choice is between Sinema or a Democratic party-line vote, you'd be a fool to not support Sinema.
And whether he has a chance.
Maybe.
Hard to figure out what she is thinking when she does this now of all times?

no simping for sinema

Look at my other comment to you.
I explained why this move doesn't really help her at all in winning re-election.
