Linked to Drinker's take cause I'm not subjecting myself to the trailer, Disney is like the Grim Reaper of franchises now, this time with another George Lucas title
Seems all the rumours may true, it'll have time travel to bring back the Nazis, there's going to be a female professor as lead and if the rest is true, Indy's getting blipped out of existence in a self-sacrifice moment for her to take the reins....
Disney have a habit of killing male leads either literally or just as a character to replace them with female leads. This is probably why Ghosrbusters Afterlife was well received as that was an actual 'passing the torch' film.
Pretty much, if they wanted to spin off or sequel, for how bad it was Crystal Skull gave them that opportunity
Drinker even points out you didn't need Shia to do it as you could have easily replaced him with another actor, the fact they went this route is to piss on the grave.
Reboots will never be in your favour. These companies hate you, and you cannot forget that.
Franchises just aren't worth it anymore. Do I want sequels to some shit? Sure. But I'm not investing any hope into it anymore. If it happens and it's good? Great. If it's shit, and there's a good chance it will be, oh well.
Getting excited for new media is already a dumb move. Getting excited over reboots is even dumber, and in fact, I don't think there has been a good reboot/revival movie for any franchise in the past 10 years. Mad Max: Fury Road would probably the best attempt there is, but I still wouldn't say it lives up to the prior films. You could argue Ghostbusters Afterlife, but that was only after the god-awful Fem-Reboot. And let's be honest, it took something that was, at the time, made for all-ages and made it a movie that was for teens. It's was satisfactory, but I wouldn't say it was good. I wouldn't go and re-watch it any time soon.
I watched Drinker’s video. At this point I fully expect him to be sidelined for a much better female. Same formula. Honestly they should’ve treated Indy like Bond and had a new actor take over.
Never going to happen as Indiana is a guy not a title, if they wanted to do treasure hunting movie with a younger actor but same formula, they shouldn't have fucked up the Uncharted movie!
Sort of yes and no. In Uncharted 4, Nate and his brother Sam get beat up by a black woman all throughout the game in hand-to-hand combat. Seriously.
The game ends sometime in the future where Nate has a daughter (originally he was supposed to have a son as a passing of the torch moment) but that pretentious prick who made TLOU2 decided to honor Anita Sarkeesian by giving Nate a daughter and essentially hinting that if there is another Uncharted game, it will feature Nate's daughter and not Nate (they also did a spin-off featuring the invincible black woman and Chloe).
I had heard about the changing of son to daughter. Im sure gaming journos clapped like seals about the black woman. Too bad nobody told Anita Sarkessian to shut up from the beginning
I think they’ve been trying for a while, there was Sahara and the National Treasure movies, although neither really captured the feel of Indiana Jones.
How will they feel in 50 years when there is one collective phrase (like today's phrase The Dark Ages) to dismiss media made from 2010 to 2030+. There is no way for example, that nuWars will make it's way into the Star Wars triology. NuWars only validated the first set of pre Dark Age remakes, and stands a good chance of being considered "the start" of the film Dark Age due to outshining other signs of cultural decay in the leadup to it.

Indy was already a dead franchise. This is Disney saying, "I'll jump start your heart and kill you again."

PLEASE! JUST FUCKING STOP! IT'S ALREADY DEAD!
Disney: "Wait, the body's still warm (unzips pants)"
Disney: Oh no, I say when we're done
The dial of destiny… you’ve got to be shitting me
Cue the 'dial of destiny' being a giant stone rotary phone...
>implying it wasn't already dead

I heard the Unchrted game went down the path of the “much more capable woman” plot line. Did the movie do that too?

Didn't watch it so unsure, I just knew it was bad from who they cast as Nathan and Sully

I'm pretty sure this counts as more necromancy than rebooting
