I think the Ukrainians did say they suspect a trap, so I would not rule it out. But good news if it is not. The quicker the war ends the better it is for everyone.
It's not unheard of in war for retreating troops to leave booby traps behind. There's also the nuclear option once the Ukrainian troops are settled in and think they won. The trick is corralling your enemy in so you can use whatever you've got to bomb them with.
The story of the Trojan horse is about the Achaeans getting the Trojans to corral themselves in with the booby trap ...
Unless the Russians secretly have the technology to stop large rivers, there's no possibility of them making a surprise attack.
There are a lot of reports now coming in from both pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian sources that the Russian delaying forces have routed and the UA is in shelling range of the Dnipro. Tomorrow the truth will come out, but if true, it will be an absolute massacre for Russia.

Even putting aside the question of who one supports in this war, it's really sad that so many people here are so bad at gathering true information about what's happening. By this point even Russian mainstream media is less divorced from reality than many commenters in this sub.
Because no matter which side a person supports, they should at least want to not be delusional and divorced from reality.
That's a delusion blackpilled people swallow because they can't navigate the propaganda.

I think there are about 5-10 people in this sub who are either paid shills working for Russia, or useful idiots having been brainwashed by the shills into doing it for free, janny style.
That isn't to say everyone who leans Russia in the war is a paid shill, just that these people are so consistent and diligent in pushing russian state propaganda that it's hard to imagine that they could actually believe it organically.
