Trump separated himself from the pack in 2016 by campaigning on building the wall, deporting illegals, draining the swamp, and locking up Hillary.
If he tries running on the same or similar issues this time around, the stench of bullshit will be too much to ignore except for his most devoted followers.
IMO, he'll probably run on "I'm not Biden," and I'm sure with how bad Biden is, he'll win just off of that.
The sad part is, this will be another wasted election to try and get an actual change candidate who won't sell out as much. Too bad Rand Paul has a terrible sense of what grassroots Republican voters want. Last time around, he was pandering to try in bring in more black voters. Fucking eh, what a mess.
That's not the case in America. The US is an inherently philosophical liberal country. Libertarianism in the US is American Civic Nationalism by nature.
Koch Brothers Libertarianism is Corporatism wearing a Friedman skin-suit.
Nationalism in other countries isn't going to be inherently Libertarian or Liberal, like in Ireland where it would be a kind of Catholic Irish Nationalism.

The merchant stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the farmer and the tradesman, with everyone having the opportunity to prosper, participate in his own governance, practice his religion without molestation, and air his political opinions and grievances in a free press without fear of reprisal.
Jesus, how naieve and quaint that sounds today!
This concept of liberty was one of the themes in my elementary school Civics class. I imagine these days immigrants, queers, troons, and feminists are held up as the prototypical Americans and the state as savior/benign rich uncle who is beyond criticism has replaced the idea of self-reliance, what with self-reliance being "white" and all.
