a pattern political scientists say shows how white fear of losing status shaped the movement to keep him in power.
They always implicitly or explicitly pathologize this. "We're just gonna rewrite the rules and laws of every institution to disenfranchise and dispossess you and make you a minority. Don't like that? Your white fragility is showing!"
“The Republican Party is, you know, dominated by white males, and the hard-core Republicans — especially in a place like Fort Bend — might not be fully awake to the fact that we are a melting pot,” he said. “They just may not believe that all these people of color — all these different religions, maybe Muslims, maybe atheists — have moved in and are voting.”
Ah, the ole' Melting Pot
Right-leaning media commentators sometimes assert that liberals are conspiring to increase the number of nonwhite voters in order to “replace” white ones.
It's only a conspiracy theory if you say it's bad.
“It is a power grab by white Republicans,"
So many white Republicans will meekly deny this, a terrible idea. Embrace the will to power, or increasingly hostile outsiders will rule you.
First of all, I notice that they're harping on race an extraordinary amount.
The white majority is fading, the economy is changing and there’s a pervasive sense of loss in districts where Republicans fought the outcome of the 2020 election.
That said, your complaint about the form of address for Trump is unwarranted. I picked a random other article about Obama, and it has almost the same pattern: refer to him as 'former President' once, and thereafter use 'Mr. Obama'.
Former President Barack Obama said Sunday that he tested positive for the coronavirus and has a scratchy throat but is otherwise fine.
In a post on Twitter, Mr. Obama said former first lady Michelle Obama tested negative, and both were glad they were vaccinated and boosted.
When Representative Troy Nehls of Texas voted last year to reject Donald J. Trump’s electoral defeat, many of his constituents back home in Fort Bend County were thrilled.
Like the former president
There is a slight difference in that the first time Obama is mentioned, it is preceded by 'former President'. With Trump, it's displaced to the next paragraph.
If this is bias, at least it has plausible deniability the way very little of the lying media does.
(Not a criticism of OP, I think it is good that you posted it for our consumption)
Its also funny because while Hispanics in Cali and New York are still playing ball with the Left as their new personal pets, Hispanics in most of the rest of the are flipping hard to the Right, and are placing a ton of zones into play that were not expected and/or making areas that were already Red even more solidly red.
They just may not believe that all these people of color — all these different religions, maybe Muslims, maybe atheists — have moved in and are voting.
Ah, yes, all those dark-skinned atheists from the Middle East.
This has been their MO since the moment Fox declared Biden won. Not even waiting for the official results. Some people believe whatever the news tells them.
Perhaps one of the best moves in deep state recent history involving the media. I admire the genius who had Fox call the election for Biden first with the votes that came in at 4 AM. So many people who just assume Fox is right wing either gave up or were forced into a serious self-doubting situation.
Yes they do, as seen on the View with Ted Cruz. But they will continue to say Killary was right in saying Trump was illegitimate and that Stacey Abram's election was stolen.
They will always double down.

It should be "Mrs. Obama."
According to Joan Rivers before her sudden and surprising death, it's Michelle who's a man, not Barack who's a woman.
Unless this is some new reference I am not aware of.
It's funny when they start to look at Mexicans displacing their pet blacks in California. You had that whole kerfuffle with "racism" in LA recently.

While the NYT is full of seditious communists, "Mr. ______" is a traditionally acceptable way to refer to a former US president.
