That’s what’s kinda scary though. The meme isn’t completely wrong, they just have to broaden the scope past memes they don’t like. Old people are definitely sitting at home and being brainwashed by tv to an alarming degree.
True. And young people as well. But that’s why I think it’s important for the elderly to get a hobby and get out. My parents are more active now than when I was a kid.
I wish my mom would listen to me about that. My parents divorced when I was in my early 20s and it's so night and day the difference after all these years. My dad is outside a lot and active and he'd compare favorably to a 40 year old. My mom goes to work then sits in a dark house and has gotten where she complains about everything. No matter what I try I just can't get her to take any initiative to do something even marginally enjoyable on her own, it's always just excuses.
Interesting observation. Similar with my folks, but they're not divorced (probably should be). Father is active, jogs, swims, has social activities with friends, etc. Mom was never very social, and since covid rarely leaves the house. NIght and day difference in health and sanity between them.
Wife's father player tennis, gets up early every morning to work out before his job, etc. Wife's mother stays home. Doesn't cook. Doesn't exercise. Cleans the house and watches cable news. She's a mess.
Both are RABID complainers. Both have serious anxiety.
Maybe this just more generally describes the average middleaged/older woman?

sorry to hear that. Hopefully she snaps out of it
