The left always claims to have been on "the right side of history", because all the changes that we now accept as having been good, they championed.
They don't tell you about all the bad stuff they championed that better people stopped.
That raises some obvious questions about who is responsible for propagating the idea that those things were good.
Not lynching people because they're black is pretty good, not?
That is the narrative, but it's highly questionable that people were lynched just for being black and many whites were lynched too. Normally, you'll find people were lynched for rape, murder, etc. Mob rule is inherently not a good thing; however, the current situation could hardly be called an improvement. American black people now kill twice as many black people every year than the KKK lynched in their entire history.
In the 1950s, every city with a large black population had a thriving black district. Something happened in the 60s, and by the 70s all those areas had been reduced to chaos and rubble.
I am aware. You weren't just lynched for "being black", but being black and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Of course, more blacks are murdered now than under the height of lynching, so one may wonder if there is an improvement on that score. But being the victim of group persecution does damage beyond the raw numbers, which is why everyone tries to persuade client groups of such persecution.
(Honest to god, I wrote this before reading the rest of your reply.)
It is the race regime and the drug epidemic. But even if we dislike the outcomes insofar as they were disasters, surely we can believe that it is a good thing for a man not to be advantaged or disadvantaged on account of his color. Even if you believe that it is an impossible goal, which I'm unfortunately increasingly being persuaded of.
