No, panel shows are dying because they replaced actual comedy talent with a roster of painfully unfunny woke women and Nish Kumar.
But you repeat yourself.
Remember when Nish got booed off a stage?
The point a lot of people miss is that Nish Kumar had the bread rolls thrown at him.
That means his skit shit the bed so fast the diners hadn't even had their soup yet. That's an impressively fast crash-and-burn.
So not being a Brit. I’d only see them pop up in social media. But I’d agree anything with Nish was not funny. And I also saw clips that included Krishnan Guru-Murthy, and the only reason I know who that is he pissed off Robert Downey Jr. asking inappropriate questions on a media tour for an early mcu movie. And in that clip Krishnan was just as unpleasant to watch as he was in that interview.
Look up 8 out of 10 cats does countdown. It's probably one of the funniest things I've seen. Taskmaster can be amazing and boring depending on the season and challenge. Check out the first season and decide for yourself.
Oh I’ve watched some of the older ones and they are hilarious.
The newer seasons are hamstrung by a developed 'metagame.' Contestants know that they need to be trying to think laterally and the showrunners have to write challenges in a way they don't just get circumvented all the time, same way laws have to be eight paragraphs long because shitters are always trying to find loopholes hidden between typoed commas.
Funny moments still happen but the newness has worn off and in some ways it's just been 'figured out.''
The show is a joke, with joke prizes. If anything, the comedian contestants should try to solve things in the funniest way possible, or establish an image of themselves, not try to win.
Weeeeeird...
It's all deranged woke white women and beta "yahs queen" males. So yeah. They need "diversity" but probably not in the way they're trying to preach.
American here, I thought 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown was an amazing show (Rip Sean Lock.)
The quality went to shit a few years back and I stopped watching. This year I watched an episode from the newest season, it has gotten even worse, just garbage. The token checklist guest doesn't even try and worse they're not funny.
Thank goodness for old episodes I can go back to in a few years.
Same thing happened to Taskmaster but even quicker they started with heavy tokenism and got more checklist requirements added as the seasons went on. Shame.
Ever since Rachel Riley got a boyfriend, she's been less desirable. There's a Russian guy and kids in the way of her being good looking.
Peak Rachel Riley was the best, but she's got that fuller mommy face going on right now. Also, Being in her mid-30s and having 3 kids doesn't help.
Like all television I've been watching in the past few years, thank God old shows.
I'm sure Jon Richardson both agrees and hates that.
no, "diversity" is what's killing them
I love Taskmaster but it's best seasons have been the ones with at least 3 white male competitors
Agreed.
In entertainment: the soykill of life is self-inflicted.
And only in so much as "Oh these alternative opinions exist. That's interesting. I never looked it that way."
Minority voices should never be given undue influence on culture.
Is that not what the article says? I just assumed what you said from reading the title.
Every panel show I've seen for the last 10 years is either everyone trying to out-agree each other (lookin at you, Rubin) or 4-on-1 pile-ons.
The Agenda used to be really good for panels, now it's totally biased and boring.
At least you're honest about being a bot.
