The communication, sent from Interpol Wellington to its Canberra counterpart, sought to fish for any information which could be used to sensationally stop us from reporting in person on the day.

I personally know nothing about INTERPOL.
But either Oceanic branches exist or the leaked correspondence is fake.
I’ve never heard of Interpol in Australia. Ever. It would be… Very odd, because they would literally just be duplicating the functions that the AFP was set up to fulfill…
I honestly have never heard of it, here, and this is… Something I know a little bit about.
It’s possible I could be wrong, but…
Actually I think it’s just that we’re reading to much into it. See the wording there: “Its Canberra counterpart” - that would be the AFP, surely…
But that doesn’t match the screenshots, as you say, so…
Eh, I dunno.
It just seems… Odd, to duplicate the functions of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service, the Australia Signals Directorate (essentially the CIA), the Australian Security and Intelligence Organization, Customs/Border Force AND the AFP by also having Interpol here, but what do I know… 💁🏻♂️
We don’t have Interpol, here, it’s called the AFP… Which is very much the same thing, but it is just run by Australia, not the Eurozone…
I do not know about NZ. But yeah, otherwise, your point still stands…
