Wasn't citizenship already Jus Soli before the 14th and the citizenship clause were crated? Meaning, being born in the US to free parents, even visitors, conferred US citizenship.
The Supreme Court case that decided birth right citizenship was argued using the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Time to revisit it.
