Nah, it was very clearly obvious that he was not acting in good faith. So while I thought about it, I eventually just stopped with a "why bother?" Last I saw, he was claiming that he had gotten SWATed by "angry conservatives in this thread" in response to someone actually asking him for proof of the bad things Blaine had supposedly said. To which my reaction (to myself) was along the lines of "Are you actually taking the piss?"
Yea I have learned to avoid Reddit arguments. It’s an endless rabbit hole. During blm riots I got into debates simply for asking why a baseball card subreddit needs to “address” this
Same. I have basically made Reddit into a way to keep up on anime and games I like, and sometimes have low-yield discussions. But if something I am planning on saying is too far outside the hivemind, then I just keep my mouth shut unless I am on KIA1 or KIA2.
Good idea. I’m just very surprised how people are so eager to inject policy stuff into regular hobbies. The main one that I still go on regularly is the Skyrim subreddit.
I lucked out in that my circle of friends still treats it like its 1999, and even though we dont agree on everything we are still friends. But that is because my more liberal-inclined friends are anti-SJW still and hate that.
As for the people who do inject it, I really do believe that it is them being miserable and just trying to make everyone else as miserable as they are. But they are so abrasive personality wise they wont make friends, and it just feeds the cycle.
There was a thing I figured out recently going through on the Farms, so buckle in for a little story to back up what I mean for the above. I watch VTubers. Not donating or anything, just like the streams when I am gaming. And the Farms being the Farms, they can find out the true identities of some of these people, and for this particular VTuber who worked for one of the companies, they discovered that she had been a Tankie SJW type, and there had been some worries about what she would do or try to subvert. But now a year or so on, she is hasnt really brought up politics, has largely stayed quite, and she seems to be happy.
The thing that made me realize the thing making these people miserable was a lack of true friendship, was that this VTuber, in one of her QA streams, broke character a little bit like they are allowed to do for those streams. And she talked about how before she joined the company she was depressed, alcoholic, and didnt really have anyone she cared about or visa versa. But after joining, she made friends with some of the other people, her depression went away, and while she still drinks she does it a lot less. While it was obvious not brought up, I have to imagine that she probably moderated somewhat politically as well because of it.
But like I said, a lot of these people (especially on Reddit) are so toxic, they cant make friends, so they just end up stuck in the rut.

"It's not politics! It's HUMAN RIGHTS!"
They say it. Why shouldn't we?
I got so sick of that line! Lol
Make THEM sick of it.
Drive your points harder, and say THAT when they complain.
Meme them until they cry, then make memes about them crying. Crybabies.
