He's still right up at the very top in the humanities and social sciences. I suppose that he was in the right place at the right time, intellectualizing things that the academe wanted to hear. I do not see his 'contributions' as being of value.
Everyone knows that he was a homosexual. Hence him contracting AIDS in San Francisco, from which he died.
He was certainly a drug user. There is a story about how he first tried LSD in Arizona and claimed that it was as though he was born again.
He also advocated for pedophilia.
But I've never heard of anyone claiming that he was personally engaged in it: that's a first for me.
Loathe Foucault and his ilk, but tbh, I have a hankering to try LSD.
LSD is great. Go for it.
Heh, I would if I had even the slightest clue of where to get it. Never been into illegal substances.
