The conservatives haven't been right of center in nearly 40 years.
They are merely leftists with a speed limit.
They are the ones right leaning in a two party system so get automatically labeled that way, regardless of the Overton shifts taking place. Remember the general public is dumb as fuck as needs these team labels even though they're not always accurate.
Even under Thatcher, they tried to take her down because she wouldn't suck EU cock.
Thatcher also gutted heavy industry rather than taking obvious step of protectionist policies, and that gutting allowed labour to thrive in every city she impoverished. So not even she, as based as she was in many respects, is entirely blameless.
