In which Auron MacIntyre explains Sam Francis' theory of the assimilation of both the New Left and New Right by the managerial regime. Both originated within the managerial structure, which made them fundamentally incapable of opposition. The New Left's only complaint is that the regime isn't moving fast enough, and serves as the gas pedal. The New Right has bourgeois values but no bourgeoisie power base whose interests can be advanced and is itself proletarianized, thus only serves as the brake pedal to prevent regime overextension.

That's a good way of framing the structural problems on the right. I find the possibility of the Reagan coalition fracturing and the downstream consequences of neoliberal de-industrialization to be intriguing.

The fracturing of the Reagan coalition can dispel the illusion that conservatism is compatible with this managerial structure, clearing the fog of war that fools conservatives into siding with it. The de-industrialization creates an opportunity for a New New Right to emerge, one born not of the managerial structure but from the ruins that it pillaged.
