Certainly Arab countries have always been religious. I never said otherwise. The current form of extremist Islam that is ruining these countries is a CIA fed subversion, and there's tons of proof of it, though im at work and cant find it now. The only reason the US gives a shit about the middle east to this degree is to benefit Israel. This is also undeniable, the vast majority of the original neocons were Jewish.
I think you have a case of 'first person' syndrome. Arabs have agency. Their beliefs are not a CIA plot, and anyway, this move started long before the CIA started paying attention to the Arab world anyway.
The governments in Arab countries cannot control religion - you think the CIA can? It's crazy.

The neocons were people who were leftists and then took a hardline stance in the Cold War. If they hadn't done that, you'd no doubt have said that they are Jewish subversives pushing communism.
