The consequence is that rich people tend to be scumbags, but that's a tale as old as time.
These rich people do things that affect all of us, though. That's why I don't like the "who cares if idiots get ripped off" crap.
It's not like there will ever be a shortage of idiots. That's why "democracy" doesn't work. Short of executing the unintelligent all you can really do is minimize the power they have to make stupid decisions.
