The French car manufacturer wants to "debunk the myths" around women in F1 as part of a wider diversity programme across the F1 team and company.
Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi said F1 was "exacting" and required "special capacities and capabilities".
"There is no way women cannot achieve it," he added.
I can't wait to see him eat his words. Although they'll probably put a woman out there at the eight year mark regardless of whether she deserves it. But that might even get me to tune in just so I can watch her crash and burn.
You might get one woman every ~150 years who's actually capable of coming close to being good enough to earn a spot on an f1 team. But that woman will probably play a different sport and never know she was capable of becoming a top level driver.
