I checked out some of my favorite youtubers to see if the Kenobi leaks were true and I guess I shouldn't be surprised they were. I cancelled Disney plus a while back and decided to stick with pre-Disney Star Wars like episodes 1-6 and the EU/Legends.
I guess at one point I would've been surprised that Leia would feature so prominently but now it is pretty obvious that writers today cannot write a female character to save their lives. Every female has to be shoehorned in so they can show how much better than men they are. Also they knew that Reva would make viewers roll their eyes so they had to play the race card again. I mean the formula for Disney is pretty obvious now. Market a show based on a male character, only to have that show be all about a much more capable female.
There was a book called Kenobi written by John Jackson Miller where Kenobi is watching over Luke from a distance and trying to keep a low profile but gets involved in a conflict between the local farmers and Tusken Raiders. Definitely would've made more sense from a lore perspective.
I'm still ashamed that when I heard that Disney bought Star Wars I thought they could do good things with it. I thought that they would adapt the EU. When they wiped that out I figured they could've at least used it for streaming content by doing a NJO animated mini series like how DC has animated movies in an alternate timeline. Then I learned that they threw out GL's outline too.
I gave their books a chance and read the awful Aftermath trilogy and I even liked mandalorian but I liked it less once I realized that everything was headed to the sequel trilogy (I stupidly let myself believe they would retcon it).
Like I said, there is a lot of EU content I haven't checked out yet like the Old Republic books and comics.
They were mostly true. Reva was apparently supposed to die “heroically” by the end, but she survives everything somehow. She had worst injuries than Qui Gon but she made it out unscathed.
I heard they want her for a spin-off. I used to be excited for anything Star Wars and now I know they are making a movie that takes place past the sequels and I don't care. There was a time where I would be first in line at midnight.
I wonder if there were people who thought they were going to actually get a show that focused on Obi-Wan.
It focused on obi-wan being a simp and dodging his way out of every scene so a female could be featured instead.
Accurate to the person who plays him then.
Twice.
She was stabbed once as a kid by Anakin when he raged on the younglings, and once as an adult by Darth Vader. The Disney Star Wars defenders claimed that the inquisitor could survive being stabbed in the stomach because his species had two stomachs (LOL at that argument). They were then fairly quiet when Reva got stabbed in the stomach (twice) and survived (twice). I guess she used her super black whamen powers. Apparently Qui-Gon saw the future and just noped out of Star Wars.
Unfortunately not true any more.
There were 3 main things wrong with the Kenobi show.
It was not a Kenobi show. It was more about Reva and Leia because stronk wymxn.
The entire plot was lifted from Fallen Order, often scene-for-scene, and it was still done worse.
KK had a hissy fit the original plot was "too dark" and so they "re-wrote" it. By copying Fallen Order. And sidelining the titular character.
If you want to clap like a retarded seal high on memberberries and memes, go check out the main Star Wars subs on Reddit.
If you want detailed breakdowns of why the show was not only a massive rip off of existing material but also yet another bait-and-switch, go check out the saltierthancrait sub on Reddit.
Do note the "crait" with a C as there is a Krayt [as in the dragons on Tatooine] version that SJWs have set up to whine about their SocJus filled dumpsterfires being criticised after TLJ [where Crait comes from] was rightfully panned by long term SW fans.
Yea I used to be in the main Star Wars subreddit til I realized it’s pretty much a shill page. I’m on some EU/Legends exclusive pages.
Do you know what the original plot was?
No, just that KK called it "too dark". Someone on saltierthancrait might know but the little I've seen of it mentioned there is what I've mentioned KK thought of it so that might be all we know for now.
Number 2 is saying something. Fallen Order was atrocious.
The story and characters, both were as flat as a three day old soda. The gameplay is adequate.
Well yeah, gameplay is often the more important thing and I've certainly read that the gameplay helped immensely for some why they enjoyed it so much. For Kenobi to then turn around and use the same story but without the same sort of engagement as the gameplay brings highlights one of the mistakes of the show.
Normally yes but this is a product banking on an existing IP. And they pretty much failed to deliver on satisfying that IP. Which means you're left with a middle of the road dark souls clone.
Like a bantha
See also how they've cut Jane Foster from all the advertising for Thor: Love and Thunder, even though she's taking a man's job.
They've realized now that people are getting wise to their hate propaganda and can identify it.
Now they're just pulling bait and switch like a shady eBay seller.
and of course they attack you if and when you call it out.
Well, they don't want their mark finding out about the con.
It took them a few years and a lot of horrid box office bombs to learn they had to hide their feminist agitprop.
For some additional content - The Clone Wars (both the 2D and CG Cartoon Network series) was excellent and Rebels was good. But Rebels is as far as I go with Disney's Wars - none of which I count as canon. Frankly, most of it is unwatchable. I've never even seen The Rise of Skywalker. If you had told little me that I wouldn't even go see a Star Wars movie...
I enjoyed both clone wars. I watched rebels before cancelling Disney plus. I remember leaving the theater after Rise of Skywalker (promised my nephew I’d take him two years prior) thinking this was the best they could do?! They threw out the Lucas outlines and EU for that?!
The Bad Batch was interesting too.
It's true. All of it.
I mean any of us here would have at least quintupled Disney's net worth given our attachment and loyalties to our favorite entertainment properties.
What I've been saying. Or if they would've decided to do their own thing, but also hire writers to continue stories in the EU universe. Not making Luke a grumpy hermit. I mean it seems like some pretty easy things.
This is probably going to turn into yet another of my long ranty lore posts.
Yes and no.
Yes
Reva, also known as Third Sister, is literally a copy of Second Sister from the Fallen Order video game, who is yet another black, female dark-side inquisitor trying to track down a hidden Jedi on a remote planet.
A hidden Jedi who has cut himself off from the Force due to trauma and when he finally reconnects it is to stop someone falling to their death. In the case of FO it's a friend to the playable character. In Kenobi it's a 10 year old ish Leia. Who talks more like 19 year old Carrie Fisher than any 10 year would because memberberries and pandering.
Later on the protagonist needs to infiltrate the Inquisitor headquarters, an underwater base, top pic game, bottom pic Kenobi, and retrieve a mcguffin that the Second/Third Inquisitor has stolen so that the Inquisitors don't learn something important that puts the galaxy at risk. In FO this is a holocron with info where other Force sensitives are hiding. In Kenobi it's... Leia. Again.
Later still after finally catching the protagonist the Second/Third inquisitor is stabbed by Vader due to failure/insubordination.
To escape the underwater facility the protagonist destroys a window that floods the underwater base. Twice. Both FO and Kenobi do this. 5 years apart. FO does it by having the protagonist use the Force to shatter what would be a reinforced transparent screen designed to withstand most things. Just not something as rare as the Force. Kenobi... shoots it with a blaster.
So both Trilla and Reva, Second Sister and Third Sister respectively, look the same, talk the same, and and up doing everything the same. Being on the same kind of mission makes sense. Inquisitors exist to find Jedi. But the fact every single event in Kenobi is taken, sometimes shot for shot, just shows how outright lazy the Kenobi production is and why the character of Reva is one of the laziest things Disney has done since ripping off ANH when making TFA.
No
Kenobi doesn't just lift material straight from the Fallen Order game. It also lifts dialogue, scenes, and entire shots from Rebels.
Dialogue that happens in Rebels vs what happens in Kenobi.
Also from Rebels, Ashoka, [who is an entirely different problem], duels Vader as highlighted above with the similar dialogue. During that duel she managed to strike his helmet and reveals one of his eyes. Guess what? Kenobi does the exact same fucking thing again!
Some other posts that go over the similarities that I used for sources:
https://www.reddit.com/r/saltierthancrait/comments/vbvzg4/kenobi_is_just_an_inferior_ripoff_of_fallen_order/
https://www.reddit.com/r/saltierthancrait/comments/vg5cm8/i_guess_the_show_wasnt_intended_for_ones_full/
If you only read one of those posts read the first one and the comments that add to it. The Kenobi show was a complete fucking waste.
Well stated.
How Disney bought Star Wars and then hired people who don't care about it is beyond me. The EU/Legends weren't all masterpieces but if you were going to get rid of them you better have something better! Same with throwing out the Lucas outlines.
There's at least 10 Inquisitors as well as the Grand Inquisitor who would likely be counted as the "First Brother" were that a thing. Number refers to the rank while Brother/Sister is just if it's a male or female character.
Second Sister: Main antagonist in FO, killed 14 years before ANH by Vader impaling her
Third Sister: Main antagonist in
FO rip offKenobi, still alive somehow despite being impaled twice by VaderThird Brother: Minor character with very little presense in Disney works
Fourth Sister: Whereabouts unknown, appears in Kenobi
Fifth Brother: Killed by Maul 3 years before ANH, appears in Kenobi as a very fat looking asian male compared to the actual asian male actor, cleaved in two
Sixth Brother: Appears in comics, killed by
Filoni's waifuAshoka 18 years before ANHSeventh Sister: Also killed by Maul 3 years before ANH, cut in half
Eighth Brother: Also killed by Maul 3 years before ANH, dies because his stupid helicopter lightsaber breaks mid flight
Ninth Sister: Likely killed 14 years before ANH, mid-game boss in FO, falls out a tree, never seen again
Tenth Brother: Killed 18 years before ANH, shot by clones in a hilarious moment a Jedi being hunted by the Inquisitors and some clones uses a Mind Trick to activate Order 66 in the clones making them turn on the Inquisitors
If you haven’t read it check out Kenobi by John Jackson Miller. It’s a legends book about that time. But yea Reva could’ve been interesting but they attack fans about race and with their track record people knew the focus would be on her
