McConnell, Senate Republican Policy Committee Chairman Roy Blunt (Mo.), Senate Republican Conference Vice Chairwoman Joni Ernst (Iowa), and Sens. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), advisers to the leadership team, voted for it.
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) convened a bipartisan group of senators in his Capitol basement hideaway two days after the shooting in Uvalde, and that same week McConnell said he would appoint Cornyn, a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, to lead the negotiations for Republicans.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), however, has said she expects the House to vote on the measure this week, clearing the way for it to reach President Biden’s desk.
“This is an important piece of legislation. We’re very excited about it. It will save lives,” Pelosi said Wednesday. “But we want to get it done.”
When the article openly admits the bill was bought and paid for you know they don’t care about optics anymore.
Normal human beings don't get very excited at the prospect of passing a new law because a school of children got massacred.
I know this ship sailed a long time ago, but politicians should never be excited about legislation. Laws should only be passed as a necessity. If they're excited about legislation, that means they're excited about controlling what citizens can, can't, or must do. Fucking psychopaths.
On the other hand, SCOTUS issued a ruling today that not only destroyed New York's "may issue" concealed carry permit scheme, it set a high standard for judging the constitutionality of gun laws that is going to affect a lot of states with anti-2A laws.
It's very good news for anyone wanting to exercise their 2A rights.
What would you do before you were going to kill a class of people? Disarm them.
Uvalde PD are obviously complicit in the fatalities being so high. They seem to have acted to make sure the (glowie?) shooter killed as many as possible.
Everything the NOW wanted in this bill held, with bipartisan support.
Actively stopping the husband from going in was the most brazen act of malice I have ever seen. First Blood seems like it may become a documentary at this rate.
How long until thing get really ugly now? Will this actually lead to the balkanization that so many expect? Any and every one of these snakes needs to be primaried, but if it was going to happen they would've already been out of office many years ago.
America is fucked and headed for civil war, but Trump getting three scotus picks bought us some time before the fighting.

Pelosi only gets excited for two things, booze and exercizing tyrannical abuses of power. And that bill ain't booze.

The only excitement that should be present in a good political chamber is when the lunch break begins.
"I won't ban vax mandates, they can work elsewhere."
This is the hill to die on.
tratiors, all of them.

TSA spent more effort poaching your shampoo, toothpaste, and snowglobes over two decades than Uvalde PD did stopping an active shooter.
