I wouldn't even mind the whole Juneteenth thing if it weren't a) given a higher priority than Father's Day and b) not purely propaganda to fan the flames of racism.
If we want to celebrate the fact that predominantly white, U.S. citizens abolished slavery and the gratitude of the freed slaves, that'd be great. But this is instead used as an opportunity to repeat the nonsense of, "hey, slavery existed and despite all historical evidence, we're going to push the idea that it was white (non-Jew, non-Muslim, obviously) people enslaving black people. Have fun with that!"
It used to be called "Emancipation Day", but I guess that word is too white and complex for the black tongue, so they had to rename it to something as retarded as "juneteenth".'
Like dumbed-down Petlish.
The picture isn't appearing and the link leads to a 503 error.
Try searching for a local forecast from their search function. It's there.
Guess I'll take the devil's advocate (?) position and point out that it's a federal holiday, like it or not. Whether that calendar is NWS propaganda or not depends on how they have listed other holidays.
By the way Wikipedia says 'President Donald Trump, during his campaign for reelection, added making the day a national holiday part of his "Platinum Plan for Black America".'
You are correct. The NWS always titles days that are federal holidays with that holiday. As Juneteenth is now a federal holiday it just follows the rest of them. No political slant to it.
Juneteenth is a national holiday, isn't it?
It was made one last year, yes.
Then this isn't proof of anything, they have to show national holidays.
Take the opportunity to remind people of who was behind the slave trades. Watch how quickly Juneteenth is no longer celebrated when blacks are raging at their masters.
They were probably just afraid they'd get robbed by peaceful demonstrators.
