Since we're on the topic, here is a luminous performance of Beethoven's entire 9th symphony with full chorus at the Moscow Conservatory with Pavel Kogan - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY2IdMOAiTU
Beethoven was the godfather of modern music.
I love the music of Beethoven more than life itself, but this is neither jazz, nor ragtime, though it is prescient of both.
I realize that there are some who feel the need to attribute all that is good and beautiful in the world to white Europeans, but it just isn't so.
Whenever cultures meet, ideas are exchanged. Everybody borrows from everybody else, and "new" things emerge, though they are usually just syntheses of old things.
There's a reason ragtime is generally considered to be the first truly "American" musical form. It was the synthesis of European marching rhythms and melody with African syncopated rhythms.

There is literally no chance that this sonata wasn't THE inspiration for ragtime musicians at least indirectly. I simply don't believe it.
I played jazz for years. This is obviously an inchoate form of jazz written in the early 19th century. It was shocking to hear (and I heard it 10 years ago before I was on 'the right' or saw a silly youtube video about it). I have ears.
They know, they honestly don't care, because the issue is as you said in the 2nd sentence.
Sometimes White Nationalists are literally just doing "We Were Kings And Shit"
And so were some Africans, even the ones who were captured and taken as slaves, but that doesn't give anyone a claim on being someone of importance, or value.
I no longer care. If it's beneficial to people like me, it's good. When people not like me do the same it's bad. Every other ethnic group has been operating by these rules and they will not change. Whites will need to play by the rules set, and dominate the game as they have with everything else in the past.
Your DNA demands it.
How does We Was Kangin' stories help you?
If anything, it comes off as pathetic, like you're insecure in your personal identity, so you need to glom on to fictionalized accomplishments of your supposed ancestors so you can pretend that you're somehow great by proxy, and not just some schlub who's never done anything noteworthy.
That's why everybody mocks the meme in the first place.
Except it's never beneficial to people like you, or anyone else. It's a stupid mechanism for power that destroys exactly what you think it will empower and protect.
If you think racialist policies will work, look to black communities and indian reservations and tell me how well it's going for them.
Whites do better when they are offered no protectionism or paternalism. Everyone does better when they are not subject to racial or ethnic protectionism, and focus on actually promoting behavior, values, and culture that are good. The lives of whites in America improved when they abandoned White Supremacy, because white people don't fucking need it.
Racialism only enables failure like welfare does, because that's exactly what it is: racial welfare programs.
Congratulations, he invented something that's all but the most rare number is intolerable to listen to.
The main difference is that this is better.
Also, must say that I realized this while listening to all of Beethoven's piano sonatas back to back and experiencing this one, not from finding this video and sharing it (the text is dumb).
If you're really silly enough to say all Jazz is inferior to one Sonata, your opinion can be safely thrown into the garbage.
Live improvisation is masturbatory garbage and jazz sucks.
(ok, there was obviously some interesting harmonic development in jazz, but 99.99% is not as good as what is linked).
Oh, come on, Europe, North America invented cultural stuff, too. Just because you sneer at banjoes is neither here nor there.
Actually the origin of the banjo is African, brought over by the slaves.
It's ironic that to "cultured" city folk, the banjo is the musical emblem of white, inbred yokels.
This is kind of a dumb argument since the claim is that Jazz originates from Ragtime, and Ragtime has one origin in Beethoven.
Ragtime was also popular among both whites and blacks, Jazz happened to be particularly focused on improvisation. Even then Ragtime is only part of how the concept of Jazz was formed.
Claiming Beethoven invented Jazz is just silly, since the argument is that part of the predecessor to part of the predecessor to Jazz is a work from Beethoven.
It's like saying Archimedes invented Calculus. He didn't. Even if he discovered conic sections within Greek geometry, Calculus is a specific model of mathematics. Archimedes lays some good ground work, but that doesn't make it Calculus. There's no reason to say: "No no no Newton didn't invent Calculus, it was Archimedes"
It literally is ragtime (not just a predecessor). I didn't need a stupid WN youtube to tell me that; I realized it the second I heard it driving in my car going through all beethoven sonatas back to back.
And yes, jazz replaces deliberation with live improvisation, and that's why it is (at least 99.99% of the time) worse than this.
Most likely. It's an argument occasionally seen in music history academics due to a few specific descriptions of him and some artist depictions.
