If anything, it comes off as pathetic, like you're insecure in your personal identity, so you need to glom on to fictionalized accomplishments of your supposed ancestors so you can pretend that you're somehow great by proxy, and not just some schlub who's never done anything noteworthy.
That's why everybody mocks the meme in the first place.
