Prostitution among teens is actually pretty old. I had a friend pay for a trip to DC with her earnings in middle school. I've had friends work the streets.
This is a ghetto vs middle class thing. In ghetto schools, we had magazines trying to talk to these students about safe sex and finding other ways to make money. Meanwhile, at a middle class school nearby, they were scandalized because some mom's wanted their daughters to be less dressed than others.
At the richer high schools here in Southern California (hundreds of kids driving $50,000+ cars), it apparently isn't too uncommon for girls to have sugar daddies, they do things like lie about their age on tinder. Not many girls do it, but I guess everyone knows of some who do it, or so I've been told.
Heh, I knew guys who did the same. Oddly enough, most of the girls who did sugar daddy stuff were pushed by their mom's.
The moms knew their only(moms) value was as trophy wives.
