I somewhat disagree; I don't think they could resist participating even on Gab if it were the popular platform. They have their own lefty alternatives (before they'd fully masked off and established their power) like Mastadon, but they'd prefer to censor Twitter because the goal isn't to spread their views as much as it is to silence opposing ones.
If they were on gab, their behavior would quickly devolve into harassment of their critics and they would all get banned as Torba may have enough braincells to do so despite being a stupid paleotradcon.
